Yesterday my very own version tracking system reported me that the Apache Foundation releaded a set of new versions for their popular Apache HTTPD. The new versions would be 2.2.5, 2.0.60 and 1.3.38

I cannot tell you what changes are included in these versions nor if they are critical, recommended or optional since an hour later I got the following from my version tracking.

Somehow the Apache Foundation revoked the release of these version and they are gone again. Current versions are still 2.2.4, 2.0.59 and 1.3.37

Safari 3.0.2 Windows

Today the Apple Software Update tool gave me a hug with the update to 3.0.2 of Safari 3 Beta for Windows. This time Safari is actually able to display my blog header while it had troubles doing so before. Looks like they changed something in the CSS rendering to fix that :-)

Ubuntu

I am currently to perform some major upgrades of chaos.fo0bar.org, mail.fo0bar.org and customer01.vm.fo0bar.org.

They are in the process to upgrade from Dapper to Edgy now and will finally get upgraded to Feisty shortly after.

Update: chaos just got upgraded to Feisty. When it rebooted I will be able to reenable the VMware-Server so that mail.fo0bar.org and customer01.vm.fo0bar.org are back online.

Update: This all had to be done to install Lotus Domino 8 Beta 3 on the server. It requires Glibc 2.4 and Ubuntu Dapper Drake (6.06) only includes glibc 2.3.1 (or something close to that).

ABC’s Lost somehow is my favourite TV show. A set of 4 different Lost jigsaw puzzles is now available in the US but unfortunately not within Europe — the publisher doesn’t even deliver outside of the US. I found a nice set of 3 of those 4 puzzles on eBay US — for a mere of 9$ — and bought them right away. Now only puzzle #4 of 4 is all I still need. Got one spare? :-)

I just received the key fob that generates onetime passwords for PayPal and eBay. Activation was easy — you just enter the serial number of the key fob and then two successive passwords generated by the device. Works like a charm.

Update: One thing that would be great — make this thing heavy. One RSA SecurID token weights about 3 times more and is kind of indestructible (I actually accidentally rolled over it with the car). The PayPal item works fine but if you squeeze you can hear cracking noise from the plastic.

VeriSign TokenPayPal and eBay offered onetime password solution for their webservices using hardware token which can be ordered for 4,95€ from the PayPal Website (link german). This hardware token optionally offers an addition layer of security and it’s use can be activated on the service websites.

The token is provided via VeriSign but VeriSign itself obviously gets them from another manufacturer.
